Me
Hi, I am Jonathan.
I'm a photographer from the West Wales.
Hello, and thank you for visiting my site.
As far back as I can remember I have always been fascinated by the power of visual imagery.
It was quite later in life that I learned I was [in educational terms] described as a visual learner. I suppose, It was no real surprise to me.
From paper and pencil to canvas and oils or photography or videography and film, the story telling ability of the visual arts has been something that has stayed with me my whole life. I am no less absorbed now watching the latest Marvel film, than I was as a small boy sitting in front of the TV, fascinated by episodes of Trumpton, or Camberwick Green.
My first camera was a Minox 35mm 110 film format [Spy Camera] I was instantly propelled into a world of excitement and frustration, excited at being able to take photographs and frustrated at having to wait [seemingly forever] to get the prints back from Boots the Chemist. Not to mention the cost of development meant months of saving pocket money.
My next Camera was a Poleroid Instamatic [no more waiting for prints] this took images and ejected a little 4' by 4' glossy chemical filled envelope and after 60 seconds of gentle shaking the image would appear before your eyes. Amazing! [but again a real pocket money pit].
Technology was moving on quickly and new developments in image capture were exciting and affordable. 28 years ago I recorded the birth of my Daughter with my first JVC video recorder. [I occasionally remind her that I still have that recording].
Now, I'm aware of an old saying 'Man plans and God laughs'....... So there's me planning a career in the arts and whether God is involved or not [I'm not sure] I end up working in the Fire Service for nearly 30 years!
Art, Photography and Videography become a hobby, Although for a few years I get to use my photography skills at work as I'm promoted to a role that includes the glorified title of 'Photography Officer'. However most of my photography for many years was linked to either family or hobby.
Digital imaging has been the development that I seem to have spent my life time waiting for. 35mm Mirrorless Digital cameras such as the Sony A7 [the camera I currently use] are incredible pieces of technology, producing crisp clear images that can be reviewed instantly.
GoPro Adventure Action cameras have image stabilisation that allow image capture of incredible quality in the wildest of situations.
Drone technology has opened up yet another avenue to the photographer and videographer, images that in the past would have required a helicopter are now relatively easily available. All of which can be used to record your perfect day.
Giving you a record of your wedding from many perspectives as the day unfolds, telling the story of your day.
